Statement from Marc Crisafulli, President, Twin River Casino Hotel and Tiverton Casino Hotel

“We have been informed by the Rhode Island Department of Revenue, Lottery Division that Twin River Casino Hotel and Tiverton Casino Hotel will remain temporarily closed until further notice. Like most Rhode Islanders, we continue to believe that the State’s continued efforts to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus are critically important, and we furtherbelieve our continued temporary closure is necessary to help ensure the health and safety of our employees, customers, and all residents of Southern New England.

As we announced last week, we have begun to work diligently to implement additional protective measures for our customers upon re-opening. We also remain in constant contact with our State regulators on our progress. We will continue to keep you apprised of any updates relative to the temporary closure of the two Twin River properties in Rhode Island. Thank you.”

Statement from Marc Crisafulli, President, Twin River Casino Hotel and Tiverton Casino Hotel

“Until further notice, Twin River Casino Hotel and the Tiverton Casino Hotel remain temporarily closed. We sincerely regret any inconvenience to our customers, but, the State’s continued efforts to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus are critically important.  We believe our temporary closure and this preventative approach is necessary to help ensure the health and safety of our employees, customers, and all residents of Rhode Island.

As we announced last week, we have begun to work diligently to implement additional protective measures for our customers upon re-opening. We also remain in constant contact with the RI Division of Lotteries and our State regulators, and we will continue to keep you apprised of any updates relative to the temporary closure of the two Twin River properties in Rhode Island. Thank you.”

Please see the below statement from Lottery Director Gerry Aubin regarding the closure of the Twin River and Tiverton Casinos.

“In consultation with the Rhode Island Department of Health, today we have ordered the Twin River Casino and the Tiverton Casino to be closed to the public beginning 12:01 a.m. tomorrow, March 14, 2020.  Impacted employees will be eligible for unemployment benefits.  A limited number of employees will remain at the facilities to secure, sanitize, and maintain them.  During the closure, Twin River will work with the Department of Health to implement additional protections for customers, before the facilities reopen.  The casino management is fully cooperating with the Lottery on the closure.  We understand that this decision may be disappointing to our customers, and we appreciate your patience.  Our top priority is the safety of Rhode Islanders.  The closure is anticipated to last one week, at which point the situation will be reassessed based on the most up-to-date data and guidance from the Rhode Island Department of Health.”

We will provide any updates on this page as we continue to monitor the situation in the coming days.

Thank you.
